On March 31, at the 6th International Conference on Innovation and Emerging Industry Development co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering released the results of a major consulting project "China Carbon Dafeng Carbon Neutrality Strategy and Path
The achievement was jointly completed by more than 40 academicians, more than 300 experts, and dozens of units organized by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, focusing on industrial structure, energy, power, industry, construction, transportation, carbon removal, etc.
Du Xiangwan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and deputy leader of the project, said: "To achieve the two goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, a series of technological advancements must be achieved in various fields such as industry, transportation, construction, and electricity
The report "China's Carbon Neutrality Strategy and Path to Peak Carbon" completed by the project team pointed out that achieving carbon neutrality is the only way to promote high-quality economic and social development in China, but it also faces many challenges
On this basis, the report proposes seven paths to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality by improving the quality and efficiency of economic development, creating a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, and accelerating the construction of a new power system with new energy as the mainstay
In order to better solve the problems faced in the process of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the report also puts forward three suggestions.

●Improve the quality and efficiency of economic development, and take the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure as an important means to realize the decoupling of economic development and carbon emissions
●Building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system is the key and foundation for achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality
●Accelerate the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body, and achieve net zero emissions in the power industry safely and stably
● Supported by electrification and deep decarbonization technologies, promote the orderly peaking and gradual neutralization of the industrial sector
● Realize the low-carbon transformation of transportation through high-proportion electrification, and promote the transportation sector to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality
●Focusing on breaking through the key technologies of green buildings, to achieve zero carbon emissions from electricity and heat in buildings
● Strategize and do a good job in realizing carbon neutrality "last mile" carbon removal underpinning technical guarantee
