MTN Zambia has reached an agreement with Chinese supplier ZTE to build a cross-border fibre optic network connecting Zambia's capital, Lusaka, with neighboring Namibia
.
The new network will stretch about 1,000 kilometers
from Lusaka to Mongu through the border town of Sesheke.
It will then be interconnected
with Namibia.
Both Telecom Namibia and Paratus provide connectivity
from Seshek to the West African Cable System (WACS).
In 2016, MTN Zambia deployed a 1,500-kilometer backbone network from Lusaka to the Tanzanian border and a metro network
in Lusaka.
