Recently, Japan's Zeon said it will increase the production capacity
of its subsidiary Zetpol, a hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber at its plant in Texas, USA.
Through this expansion, the annual production capacity of hydrogenated nitrile rubber in Zeon Japan will be increased by about 25%.
The expansion project is scheduled to start construction in the near future and be completed and put into operation
in January 2025.
Zeppol is a special rubber that improves heat resistance by hydrogenating highly oily nitrile rubber
.
Currently, Nippon Zeon manufactures the product at two sites: the
Takaoka Plant in Toyama Prefecture and the Zeon Chemical Texas Plant.
The Texas plant and the Takaoka plant expanded their capacity in 2020 and 2022, respectively, to strengthen the supply system
for this product.
In addition to growing demand in various industrial fields with high heat resistance and high strength requirements, this product can also be used as an alternative to fluoroelastomers
.
Zetpol is expected to have steadily increasing market demand
in the future.
In addition, the company's lithium-ion battery cathode adhesive is mainly composed of hydrogenated nitrile rubber
.
In recent years, with the rapid spread of electric vehicles, there has been a high
demand in both domestic and overseas markets.
This expansion will meet this strong demand
