Recently, the Zambian Secretariat, on behalf of the Zambian Ministry of Energy, launched the first round of GET FiT Zambia's Request for Proposal (RfP) phase
.
It is understood that the photovoltaic project has a capacity of 100MW
.
It was revealed that the list of companies that have qualified in the first phase have been invited to submit their proposals
by November 29, 2018.
It is understood that a total of 10 developers were shortlisted for the tender
.
The companies were selected
following the eligibility application phase that ended in June 2018.
Over the next two months, GET FiT Zambia worked with the Zambian government and the Zambia National Power Company to complete the project agreement and evaluate the proposed site
for the PV project.
The winning bidder will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Zambia National Power Company to provide renewable energy
to the Zambian people.
The entire tender process is expected to be completed
in early 2019.
