Sinochem News reported on April 15 that Wood, a consulting and engineering firm, will provide conceptual engineering for Total Ellen's H₂ Magallanes project, a large-scale green hydrogen production facility located in Chile.
Wood's scope includes the development of a complete off-grid integrated energy complex to produce ammonia from green hydrogen to avoid emissions of up to 5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year
Within the framework of this project, Total Ellen signed a cooperation agreement in November 2021 with the University of Magellan (UMAG), a renowned public institution with extensive experience in engineering, environmental and social research
Wood's research will provide Total Ellen and Magellan University with an accurate environmental impact assessment and risk analysis around the H₂ Magallanes project, in line with the high environmental and social standards set by the Chilean government
Thomas Grell, President of Renewables and Power at Wood, said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by a reputable renewable energy company such as Total Ellen for the H₂ Magallanes project
