On November 24, Westlake Chemical announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire Hexion’s global epoxy resin business for approximately US$1.

Westlake Chemical said the transaction will expand the company's integrated business by adding downstream coatings and composite product portfolios to its vinyl chloride business

Hexion’s epoxy resin business is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and manufactures and develops specialty resins, coatings and composites

Westlake Chemical said on June 21 that it would acquire the North American construction products business of Australian materials company Boral for US$2.

According to the 2021 list of the top 50 US chemical companies announced by the "American Chemical and Engineering News", Westlake Chemical's chemical sales in 2020 are 7.
