According to Vietnamese media sources, in January, Vietnam's two main international submarine cable systems, Intra Asia (IA) and Asia Pacific Gateway (APG), broke down, resulting in a greater impact
on Vietnam's Internet services.
APG submarine cable
Specifically, on January 1, the IA submarine cable system failed
in Section S1, 49 km from Singapore's Changi North landing station.
On Jan.
9, the APG submarine cable malfunctioned in the S3 section, which has affected internet traffic between Vietnam, Hong Kong and Japan and made it difficult for Vietnamese internet users to access foreign websites
such as Facebook and Netflix.
According to media reports, the cable failure will take several weeks to repair

Major internet service providers such as Vietnam Mobile Telecom Viettel Group, Vietnam Post and Telecom Group and FPT Telecom quickly redirected international internet traffic to other cable systems to maintain international connectivity
to the internet.
Vietnam is connected to a total of 5 international submarine cables, including IA and APG

The 6,800 km long IA cable with a design capacity of 3.
