Vestas said it would upgrade long-term customer IKEA Group's global Vestas turbine portfolio, equivalent to 316 megawatts, to maximize the value of
its wind energy assets.
The upgrade, which spans six different Vestas turbine types, is expected to generate an average of 1.
5 percent additional energy production, for an estimated total of 13.
5 GWh
per year.
Through planning, Vestas can improve energy production and efficiency
in wind farms through site-specific optimization of operational parameters, implementation of intelligent software algorithms or enhanced aerodynamics.
The IKEA Group has set ambitious sustainability goals, with the goal of producing as much renewable electricity
as possible by 2020.
The head of financial asset management at IKEA said: "It is very good
that we are able to expand our cooperation with Vestas and optimize the performance of wind farms.
We value long-term relationships with our partners as we look to work together to improve and develop the quality of
our operations and maintenance services.
”
"We are delighted to be able to upgrade the IKEA Group's existing energy assets and support them in their goal
of powering their production and consumption with renewable energy.
We are constantly innovating and developing solutions
that can increase energy production.
In this case, we improved the existing business case through global agreements, and we upgraded six different types of turbines, once again emphasizing the flexibility
of our products.
