Vectren Energy Delivery in Indiana announced that it will partner with First Solar on a 50-megawatt solar array project
    .

The solar array project covers approximately 300 acres and will consist of
    approximately 150,000 solar panels.
The array will be mounted on a single-axis tracking system that will allow the panels to rotate automatically to enhance energy production
as the sun's rays move across the Earth's surface.
The facility is expected to be fully operational in the fall of 2020 and will generate enough power to meet the needs
of more than 11,000 homes annually.

Vectren's Chairman and CEO said, "This important renewable energy project will be connected to our system to provide better and better service
    to local customers.
We believe First Solar is a very suitable partner
    .
The project will bring the largest solar farm in the Midwest to southern
    Indiana.

Construction began after the Indiana Public Works Board authorized the project
    .
    A decision
is expected in the first half of 2019.
The initial construction phase will require the establishment of a substation to connect to Vectren's grid and will begin
    immediately upon regulatory approval.
Construction of the solar array will begin
    in mid-to-late 2019.

First Solar's expertise in the design and construction of solar power plants aligns
perfectly with Vectren's Smart Energy Future strategy.
Our high-performance Series 6 thin-film modules and approach to plant design for utility ownership value help us make a significant contribution
to providing clean, reliable and affordable energy to our customers.
