The owner of the Vales Point coal power plant in New South Wales has reportedly signed a long-term contract to buy most of the production of the proposed 275MW Darlington solar farm, which will be one of
the largest in the country.
Edify Energy and Delta Electricity unveiled a contract for 150MW of solar farm capacity in a statement Tuesday that runs until the end of Vales Point's life expectancy and hailed by both parties as an important step toward the inevitable clean energy transition
.
The companies said in a statement, "The contract is an example of NSW working with solar and demonstrates the growing position
of renewables.
" ”
More specifically, electricity from solar farms will be used to support Delta Electricity's expanding retail business portfolio, and it will use large-scale certificates for solar farm production to help meet its renewable energy target responsibilities and handle any future emissions compliance
