Universal Cable cooperates with Manhattan Technologies to develop nano-scale aluminum guides
Manhattan Scientifics (Manhattan Scientifics) recently announced that it signed a cooperation agreement with General Cable to jointly develop nanostructured aluminum conductors to strengthen the technical support
of overhead conductors of transmission systems.
At present, in the United States, the power loss rate from power generation to customer use is about 7%, which means that the annual power loss cost is about
25 billion US dollars.
Among them, the overhead conductor loss of the transmission and distribution system is the main cause of
power loss.
Nano aluminum was developed to improve strength and conductivity, thereby significantly improving power transmission efficiency and reducing losses
.
At the same time, because nano aluminum has the characteristics of high temperature resistance and anti-sag resistance, the safety and reliability of the transmission and distribution network system are further improved
.
Manny Tsoupanarias, CEO of Manhattan Tech, said, "We are very pleased to enter into an R&D collaboration agreement with General Cable, and our goal is to form a complete solution to produce lighter and more efficient aluminum conductors
.
”
Srini Siripurapu, Vice President of Research and Development at General Cable, also said, "We are committed to becoming the industry-leading overhead conductor supplier
.
The collaboration with Manhattan Technologies helps us further strengthen our research and innovation
in nanostructured aluminum conductors.
