On December 2, 2020, Trinseo, a ball material solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex adhesives and synthetic rubber, announced the inauguration of its thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) pilot plant in Hsinchu, Taiwan
.
Built on Trinseo's existing production site in Hsinchu, the state-of-the-art pilot plant will work closely with customers to accelerate innovation cycles and deliver sustainable, competitive materials for the automotive, consumer electronics, footwear and medical markets
.
Despite the challenges of building a state-of-the-art factory during the coronavirus pandemic, the Hsinchu plant is on schedule
.
"We are very excited to launch our pilot plant for custom engineered TPEs and TPUs, closer to our customers in the Asia Pacific region," said Francesca Reverberi, vice president of engineered materials and synthetic rubber at Trinseo.
"The pilot plant provides a potential platform
.
The pilot plant will play an important role in helping Trinseo achieve its 2030 sustainability goals, which stipulate that sustainably sourced materials will make up 40% of Trinseo's product portfolio within a decade
.
The Hsinchu facility already supports Trinseo's sustainability goals by compounding first-class resins made from post-consumer recycled plastics, primarily used in consumer electronics
.
