Recently, Chinese PV producer Trina Solar announced that a solar project developed by DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, provided 123MW of photovoltaic modules
.
Once completed, the solar installation will be the largest photovoltaic power generation facility in the region and the largest single photovoltaic power plant
in Europe.
Located near Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine, the plant has a planned power generation capacity of 246MW and can produce 280,000,000 kWh of photovoltaic energy
per year.
The project, contracted by China National Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), is expected to be completed in early 2019 and connected to the grid
in March 2019.
Once operational, the plant will supply electricity to 100,000 households in Ukraine and reduce carbon emissions, which exceed 300,000 tons
of carbon dioxide per year.
Trina Solar's Executive Vice President said: "With the continuous development of technology, solar PV as an energy source will gradually reach grid parity
.
