Toyota Motor plans to build a hydrogen fuel cell stack plant
The new plant comes as Toyota tries to mass-produce hydrogen-powered vehicles to expand its use
as a zero-emission alternative to gasoline vehicles.
Toyota said in a statement that the plant will be built near the Honsha plant in Toyota City, and a dedicated line will be built at its nearby Shimoyama plant to produce gas tanks
that store high-pressure hydrogen in vehicles.
Toyota also said it plans to increase annual global sales of fuel cell electric vehicles from the current 3,000 to at least 30,000, including passenger cars and buses
