According to a report by Pipeline & Gas Magazine on May 5, French oil company Total and the Papua New Guinea government announced the restart of the Papua LNG project, which was delayed by a year due to the new crown epidemic.
On May 3, a delegation led by Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO of Total, and Samuel Basil, Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, held a meeting to jointly review the next development of the Papua LNG project.
The Papua LNG project will focus on the two main discoveries in the PRL-15 block, the production of Elk and Antelope, and these two discoveries will not be fully evaluated until 2017.
The government of Papua New Guinea and Total, as operators, announced the re-mobilization of the project team and other required resources.
Pouyanne said, I am honored to welcome the Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea to review the Papua LNG implementation plan at our headquarters in Paris.
Total and the Papua New Guinea authorities will cooperate to create significant domestic value and implement the Papua LNG project in an exemplary way, while taking into consideration biodiversity and environmental concerns as well as the rights of local communities.
