Toray Industries has announced a supply chain breakthrough that will make its Nylon Primeflex fabric available to global markets
.
Since its introduction five years ago, Nylon Primeflex fabric has been a favorite of some Toray customers in the Japanese market
.
But now, manufacturers around the world can use Nylon Primeflex fabric to experience its four-way stretch, abrasion resistance and smooth, quiet feel
.
The fabric itself is a modified stretch nylon with a two-component construction that combines two different types of nylon polymers in a single yarn
.
Toray engineers achieved a series of notable technological breakthroughs in developing the new Primeflex:
- Two-component structural nylon fibers bond two nylon polymers with different properties into a single thread
.
- Bi-component construction overcomes stretch and stretch recovery issues that limit the use of nylon, even for warp yarns in woven fabrics
.
- Toray engineers also developed a new texturing process to address capacity constraints and enable sales to the European and North American markets
.
The performance, stretch and sustainability of the new Primeflex make it ideal for down products such as jackets and vests as well as mid-layers, athleisure and outdoor sports/recreational wear
.
These latest advances in high-performance, sustainable production allow Toray to take a further step forward in its pursuit of material development and diverse applications for its new Primeflex in its domestic and foreign markets
.
