Clean energy research firm Mercom Capital Group has released the world's largest solar photovoltaic developer TOP10
.
In terms of its total installed capacity in operation, under construction and acquired projects, Adani Green Energy is the world's largest developer of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) with 12.
3 GW of installed capacity
.
China's GCL New Energy ranks second
in the world with 7.
1 GW of solar capacity.
Tokyo-based SB Energy ranked third
with 7 GW of solar project assets.
In terms of projects under construction and acquired, Adani remained in first place with a portfolio size of 10.
1 GW, and SB Energy ranked second
with 3.
4 GW of capacity.
The report also adds that a fundamental requirement for rankings is that companies must have projects
in at least two different countries or regions.
Since developers such as NextEra Energy operate in only one country, they are not included in
this ranking.
According to the report, the world's top ten large solar developers account for 33 GW of
operating solar projects.
"Top developers are expanding operations in mature markets in pursuit of policy certainty, stable returns and lower risk
.
At the same time, they are also chasing growth in emerging markets, trying to lay the groundwork and tap the huge future potential that these regions represent, despite the risks and ultra-competitive auctions," said
Raj Prabhu, CEO of Mercom Capital Group.
Among the top 10 solar developers globally, Asia Pacific accounts for 52.
4% of total developer capacity, followed by the Americas with 42.
1% and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with 5.
5%.
Mercom reported in June that Adani had won a bid to develop 8 GW of solar projects, while building 2 GW of solar cell and module manufacturing capacity
.
The single auction is the largest in the world to date, with a total investment of approximately $6 billion
