Abu Dhabi's Department of Energy has opened the region's first grid-scale battery deployment project and is currently the world's largest virtual battery factory, with a capacity of 108 MW spread across 10 locations
    across the UAE.

The move marks the start of production of Abu Dhabi's first integrated energy storage control system
    .
Emirates news agency Wam said it aims to serve the city by ensuring load balancing during the
    day.

"The landmark deployment ensures sustainable energy supply to several key locations in Abu Dhabi as part of a comprehensive plan to ensure sufficient electricity production to meet the UAE's growing energy needs," said
Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, senior energy ministry official.

The project marks a significant shift in the emirate to ensure efficient and optimal use of energy and integrate solar and other forms of renewable energy to meet growing demand, providing load balancing to improve workload allocation
    across multiple resources.

Awaidha Murshed Al Marar explained that the virtual battery factory will receive an additional 6 hours of power supply
in case of emergency by using batteries.
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has other renewable energy generation facilities, including the soon-to-be-operational solar power plant Noor Abu Dubai
    .
