Vietnamese telecom operator VNPT has revealed that Quy Nhon in Vietnam's Binh Dinh province is currently building a cable landing station
for the Southeast Asia-Japan Submarine Cable System (SJC2).

The 10,500-kilometer-long cable system will connect Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Chinese mainland, South Korea and Japan, with a total of 11 landing sites
.

The SJC2 submarine cable system can be equipped with up to 8 pairs of high-capacity fibers with a total design capacity of 144Tbps
.

The SJC2 development consortium includes Singtel, China Mobile International, Chunghwa Telecom, Cambodian telecom operator ChuanWei, Facebook, Nikt KDDI, South Korea's SK and Vietnam VNPT.

In March 2018, the consortium signed an agreement
with NEC for the construction of submarine cables.
The system is scheduled for completion
in the fourth quarter of 2020.
