Senior British government ministers recently said the UK wants to broker a global agreement to halt cross-border financing
of coal projects when it hosts a major climate conference in November.

Minister Alok Sharma, who oversees preparations for the UN COP26 summit in Glasgow, said major action was needed to limit global warming to 1.
5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, which scientists say could prevent the worst impacts
    of climate change.

The UK currently generates 2% of coal electricity, down from 40% in 2020, and plans to completely phase out coal as a power source

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions to 78% of 1990 levels by 2035 and reduce its net emissions to zero
