Recently, international telecommunications service provider RTI and GTA have formed a joint venture to build the Gateway Network Connections (GNC) facility, which will serve as Guam's Neutral Cable Landing Station (CLS) and Data Center (DC).
GNC will be located near GTA's existing cable landing station, which contains the Southeast Asia-America Submarine Cable (SEA-US) system
.
According to the plan, the GNC facility will be completed in the first quarter of 2020, and GNC will be a Type 3 data center covering an area of 11,800 square meters with approximately 250 rack capacity
.
GNC will provide interconnection for existing and new subsea systems seeking rapid connectivity between Asia, Australia and the United States, particularly several new 100G cables
scheduled to land at GNC facilities in 2019 and 2020.
