in the Asia-Pacific region and even the world.
It is understood that the nuclear security demonstration center covers an area of 5.
3 hectares and a construction area of 27,500 square meters, including a comprehensive training building, an analysis experiment building, an environmental experiment building, a nuclear material accounting and physical protection simulation facility, a response force training and exercise facility, and a physical protection test site
.
As a Sino-US cooperation project, the center is provided by the Chinese side with site facilities and is responsible for the management and operation of the center, and the United States provides professional equipment in nuclear material analysis, nuclear security equipment
testing, response force training and exercises.
Liu Yongde, spokesman of the China Atomic Energy Agency, said that the completion of the nuclear security demonstration center is a milestone event in Sino-US cooperation in the field of nuclear security and will surely go down in history as the outcome of the fourth nuclear security summit

The center will mainly play the role of four major platforms for international exchange and cooperation, education and training, analysis and testing, and technical research, and undertake the task of displaying advanced technologies in the field of nuclear security, and will carry out training for China and Asia-Pacific countries after operation, and can train about 2,000 people
per year.
