N0r5ke Fiber AS recently revealed plans for the second phase of Norway's digital infrastructure construction, which will build a 900-kilometer submarine cable system connecting Bergen and Oslo and a 500-kilometer terrestrial cable
between Oslo and Trondheim.
It is reported that after completion, a dark fiber ring
of 2200 kilometers will be formed.
Both new cables will contain at least 192 fibers, connecting all international submarine fibre lines to and from Norway and Norway's large, mature data centres, enabling green data center expansion
in new areas where green electricity production is abundant.
It is reported that the expansion of N0r5ke Viking is to significantly improve the redundancy and availability of Norwegian dark fiber, redundant connections with major cities, connection hubs, cable landing sites and regions, and provide convenient access
for international customers.
The existing 810km N0r5ke Flying submarine cable will run along the western Norwegian coast from Trondheim to Bergen, with 12 landing sites
along the way.
