Huawei Marine has launched the second phase
of the Sosogon Province-Samar Island Submarine Fiber Interconnection Project (SSSFOIP).
    The project was awarded
by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The second phase of submarine fiber optic in Sosogun Province-Samar Island in the Philippines was launched

Located in the San Bernardino Channel, the SSSFOIP submarine fiber interconnect system connects Sosogon province, the southernmost province of Luzon, with Samar Island
    .

The transmission network between Sosogun province and Samar Island was built in 1997 and is a key branch of
    the Philippine power grid.
Due to limited bandwidth and vulnerability to weather changes, current microwave technology needs to be upgraded
    .

The SSSFOIP submarine fiber project was tendered in two phases in 2016, with both phases of the contract awarded to Huawei Marine
    .
The first phase of the survey was completed
    in 2016.
The second phase highlights subsea fiber with a design capacity of 12.
    8Tb/s, which will be completed
in the third quarter of 2018.
The system will feature specially designed heavy-duty armored submarine cables
    .

    Ferdinand A.
Dicon, Senior Manager, Network Telecommunications Division, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, said: "The transmission line between Sosogun Province and Samar Island is an important branch of
    the National Grid.
During the first phase of exploration, Huawei Marine demonstrated its project delivery capabilities and experience
as a world-class turnkey submarine cable supplier.
We are confident that in the second phase of construction, Huawei Marine will successfully deploy its leading product technology and customer focus support services
    .
    " ”

Mike Constable, CEO of Huawei Marine, said: "The SSSFOIP project is Huawei Marine's first power grid project, which is of special significance
    to us.
Based on the results of the first phase of exploration, we will deploy the latest technology to build a purpose-ready communications network that will transform the grid capacity
    of the Philippine National Grid.
