AP&T Wireless, a subsidiary of Alaska Power and Telephone Company (AP&T), has received a $21.
545 million grant to implement an ongoing submarine cable project

Specifically, the company received $21.
545 million in assistance on the SEALink project through the USDA's ReConnect grant program in
the Rural Utility Service.
AP&T will also provide more than $7 million in matching funding
.
The project will include the deployment of a local network, which will provide high-speed broadband access to a broadband network with access to Kasan and Coffman Bay in Alaska, as well as a 340-kilometer fibre optic cable
between Prince of Wales Island (Petersburg) and Juneau.

Other communities on Prince of Wales Island will also benefit from this new partnership with USDA to build the communications superhighway
of the future.
