Sinopec News Network News On May 19th Tourism Day, the "Return Well to Forest" oil wells erected by Northwest Oilfield Company in the Shayanzhou Scenic Area of Xinjiang were permanently closed and became a photo spot for tourists.
Since May, the number of tourists visiting the Shayanzhou scenic spot in Shaya County, Aksu Prefecture has gradually increased.
In recent years, part of the oil and water well areas that Northwest Oilfield has put into production in the Tarim River Basin have been successively included in the Tarim Populus euphratica National Nature Reserve and the Upper Tarim River Wetland Nature Reserve.
In March 2020, Northwest Oilfield formulated the “Implementation Plan for the Remediation of Oil and Gas Facilities in the Upper Tarim River Wetland Provincial Nature Reserve within a time limit in 2020” to allow the oil and gas wells and surface supporting oil and gas facilities in the wetland nature reserve to be permanently closed and cleaned.
Now, all 22 oil and gas wells that have been permanently closed have been reclaimed.
Although the shut down of oil and gas wells brought certain losses to the fourth oil production plant, “ecological benefits benefit future generations, and 22 oil and gas wells will be permanently closed, which is worth the ecological benefit account!” said Luo Hui, manager of the fourth oil production plant of Northwest Oilfield.
