Recently, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the "Electric Vehicle Power Battery Recycling Technology Policy (2015 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Policy") has entered the stage of soliciting opinions and will be released soon
.
Industry insiders believe that the "Policy" clarifies the main body of recycling responsibility, solves the bottleneck problem of battery recycling commercialization, and has a huge potential market space
.
It is reported that the products to which the Policy applies are batteries that provide energy for the power train of electric vehicles
.
The "Policy" was jointly formulated by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the competent authorities said that the purpose is to guide relevant enterprises to reasonably carry out the production and recycling of electric vehicle power batteries, and establish a power battery recycling system
linked by upstream and downstream enterprises.
Data show that by the end of 2014, the number of new power cars in China has exceeded 120,000.
The rapid growth of new power vehicles also indicates that there is a broad market
for the recycling and reuse of power batteries.
The China Automotive Technology and Research Center predicts that by 2020, the cumulative scrap of China's electric vehicle power batteries will reach 120,000 to 170,000 tons
.
Although the potential market space is huge, the lack of clear responsibilities restricts the commercial value mining
of battery recycling.
