Ingeteam has launched a new medium-voltage wind turbine converter that can be used for future 15MW offshore wind turbines
.
Ingeteam will also present the new product and its related research
at the Global Wind Energy Summit in Hamburg next month.
With the current development of offshore wind power technology, the industry generally believes that offshore wind turbines will continue to develop
rapidly in the direction of larger single-unit capacity and lower LCOE.
As a result, converters with higher stability can be used for larger single-capacity offshore wind turbines
.
By delving into the relationship between cost, reliability and maintainability of wind turbine converters, and with the aim of achieving the lowest LCOE, Ingeteam found that converters based on parallel multiple transformer circuits can be used as an optimized solution for the future offshore wind market and can be expanded to 15MW
in capacity.
The control algorithm of the new fan converter can be adapted to various demanding grid-connected standards, such as EON-2006 in Germany and CERC-CEA
in India.
At the same time, it can be applied to different types of generators
.
It is reported that Ingeteam, headquartered in Spain, has provided medium and low voltage converters to more than 41GW of wind turbines around the world, with a market share of 8%, and is the world's largest independent supplier
of wind turbine converters.
