Libyan News Agency reported that Libya International Telecommunications has completed the reactivation of the Silphium submarine cable
    connecting Libya with Greece.

The cable was originally certified for operational use (RFS) in 2013, but the submarine cable landing station in the Libyan city of Derna, was destroyed
in bombings in August 2013 and October 2013.

According to reports, the 425-kilometer-long system connects Derna, Libya, with Chania (Greece) in Crete and provides a total capacity
    of 70Gbps.
As part of the project, Telecom Libya also opened its operations and control room to support the operation and equipping
of the network monitoring center NOC/OSS through eight main operations and maintenance systems.

Faisal Gergab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Libyan Postal and Telecommunications Information Technology Corporation (LPTIC), said: "The completion of this project is a great success
for the telecommunications sector and for strengthening Libya's strategic role in the region.
