RTI Connectivity, an international submarine cable service provider, recently announced that construction of JGA South, a submarine cable system from Japan-Guam-southern Australia, is progressing as planned and will be operational
by the end of the year.
JGA South's initial design capacity is 36 Tbps, enabling Sydney's carrier-neutral data center to connect to the RTI cable landing station/neutral data center
in Piti, Guam.
From Guam, JGA South is seamlessly connected to neutral data centers, including Los Angeles, California, USA, Tokyo, Japan, and Hong Kong SAR, among others
.
Not only that, JGA South will also connect Queensland's Sunshine Coast, becoming the first-ever new cable
to land on Australia's east coast outside of Sydney.
The submarine cable system is being built by Alcatel Submarine Network ASN, and the submarine cable and repeater are currently being reloaded to ASN's Ile De Brehat installation vessel and then to the South Pacific
.
"JGA South will be the fastest corridor
between Sydney-Hong Kong and Sydney-Tokyo.
In addition, the cable is coming to the Sunshine Coast for the first time, providing much-needed diversified internet services not only between Australia-Asia and Australia-the United States, but also between Brisbane and Sydney," said
Russ Matulich, CEO of RTI.
