Veolia & L'Oreal
Veolia & L'OrealVeolia Group will supply L'Oréal with food-grade certified recycled plastic for use in the packaging of the cosmetics company to reduce its carbon footprint and promote circular efforts
.
The recycled plastic produced by Veolia is obtained from the plastic material present in the waste generated from consumer packaging, especially plastic bottles, which are collected and processed with specific tools to ensure their purity
.
Veolia claims it has developed a system of granulation technology based on the elimination of organic compounds to obtain higher quality plastics, and it can reportedly obtain recycled plastics with comparable performance to virgin plastics
.
In addition, Veolia says the recycled plastic complies with food industry requirements and international certifications, including those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
.
L'Oreal's other sustainability efforts include a "world first" bottle made from captured and recycled carbon emissions, a process led by LanzaTech and Total that allegedly creates the same product as its fossil-based counterparts.

.
The 2020 brand L'Oreal has committed that by 2030 all plastics used in its packaging will be recycled or bio-based
.
The companies said the use of recycled plastic in cosmetic packaging could potentially reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 50 to 70 percent compared to standard plastic bottles
.
Beiersdorf: Nivea
The new Nivea EcoRefill hand sanitizer range includes a 100% recyclable and recyclable PET bottle that can be refilled to produce hand sanitizer by mixing water and detergent tablets
.
According to Nivea, the EcoRefill bottle is made from 100% recycled and recyclable PET
.
This does not include the pump, which is not recyclable because it contains multiple components that cannot be recovered separately
.
The EcoRefill hand sanitizer bottle can be refilled and reused multiple times with additional cleaner, and consumers can buy it separately after their initial purchase of the starter kit
.
The EcoRefill hand sanitizer range is available in 50 Tesco stores in the UK and on the Nivea website
.
Nivea will expand the launch of the collection in 2022
.
From June, packaging for Nivea's Natural Good Facial range will be made from SABIC's "Certified Renewable" polypropylene
.
According to the companies, around 76 grams of CO2 can be saved per jar produced, a CO2 reduction of around 60% compared to fossil jars
.
“Certified renewable plastic sourced from SABIC, with no visual effects or other undesirable properties
.
As a result, jars made from renewable PP are not visually or visually distinguishable from previous packaging
.
In addition, SABIC The company (SABIC) pursues a holistic approach to sustainability with its ingredient concept
.
This convinced us
,” adds Hannah Rasel, Senior Packaging Specialist at Beiersdorf
.
It's a whole new step for Nivea's parent company, Beiersdorf, and its biggest skincare brand
.
Nivea's Natural Good Facial range consists of eight products that will be clearly identified as "climate neutral" packaging and shelf
.
This new announcement is part of the Beiersdorf Plastics Commitment, which sets the following targets for 2025: make its packaging 100% reusable, refillable or recyclable, increase the content of recycled plastic in plastic packaging to 100% 30% and reduce the use of fossil-based virgin plastics by 50%
.
