According to Chief Minister Vijarupani, the Indian state of Gujarat has approved what could be the world's largest solar park
.
It is understood that the project has a capacity of 5 GW
.
The minister also noted that the project is located on 11,000 hectares of land along DSIR's Khambhat Bay and will attract investment amounting to INR 250 billion while creating jobs
for more than 20,000 people.
He claimed that DSIR's goal is to become a global manufacturing and trading hub
.
Since India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the country's chief minister, Gujarat has been one of the pioneer states in the field of
large-scale solar energy.
The state recently held a 500MW solar auction priced between
$2.
98-3.
06/kWh.
The state will also be targeted by bidders for the upcoming 7GW Interstate Transmission System (ISTS), which are currently conducting tenders in which developers have to find their own land and transmission infrastructure, unlike
