To achieve its goal of generating more than 2,000 megawatts of solar energy by 2025, the Delhi government is reportedly working on a comprehensive plan to encourage the residential sector to adopt rooftop solar projects
.
To achieve this and understand the opportunities and challenges of aggregating consumer demand, the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre of the Delhi Ministry of Electricity organised a consultation workshop
on Monday on a rooftop solar demand aggregation scheme for domestic consumers.
The workshop was supported by the Bharat Rooftop Solar Accelerated Sustainable Partnership, the World Bank's SBI rooftop solar technical assistance program that discussed the opportunities and challenges
faced by renewable energy service company developers in building solar rooftop projects in the city.
Delhi's Minister of Electricity said, "The AAP government is working to promote the use of renewable energy
in all sectors.
The Delhi government aims to generate 1,000 MW by 2020 and 2,000 MW
through rooftop solar installations by 2025.
