Adopting the polyethylene catalyst PSE-CX2 for serial polymerization in the slurry process independently developed by the Petrochemical Institute, following the successful first industrial test of the 170,000-ton/year Mitsui slurry polyethylene plant in Lanzhou Petrochemical, the special resin for heat-resistant polyethylene pipes produced recently.
Heat-resistant polyethylene pipes for engineering are mainly used in municipal and industrial fields such as cold and hot water transportation in buildings, thermal pipe networks, hot spring pipes, oil field pipes, etc.

In response to the urgent need for localization and autonomy of production technology for high-performance pipe products, the R&D team of the Institute of Petrochemical Research conducted in-depth research on the product structure characteristics and the technical requirements of the multi-reactor series polymerization process, starting from the "technical bottleneck" catalyst, and after years of independent technology research and development, breakthrough The core technologies such as multi-functional electron donor and particle-level precipitation have been overcome, and the technical problem of continuous release of titanium catalysts under high hydrogen conditions has been overcome, and the special slurry catalyst PSE-CX2 for three-pot multimodal polyethylene products has been developed
The catalyst has the characteristics of good particle shape, concentrated particle size distribution, long catalytic life, stable and easy-to-control activity release, sensitive to hydrogen regulation, and good copolymerization performance, which can fully meet the performance requirements of series polymerization and high-performance pipe products for catalysts
In July 2021, the first industrial application of the 170,000-ton/year Mitsui slurry polyethylene plant of Lanzhou Petrochemical was successful, and high-quality heat-resistant polyethylene pipe resin L5050 was produced, realizing the first time that the polyethylene catalyst independently developed by PetroChina was used in sludge.
The two processing and application tests were carried out on the imported PE-RT II pipe special resin, which is the most recognized in the domestic market.
For the production of pipes with a diameter of 50mm, under the same conditions of the screw main engine speed, the processing temperature is reduced by 10% and the line speed is increased by 20%; for the production of large-diameter pipes with a diameter of 160mm, under the same conditions, the output is increased by at least 20% without sagging
The results show that the special resin for heat-resistant polyethylene pipes produced by the polyethylene catalyst PSE-CX2 independently developed by our institute has better processing performance and good sag resistance, and is suitable for the processing of large-diameter pipes.
