Japan's offshore wind market is expected to expand
in the near future.
According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Japan's offshore wind capacity will increase by 260MW
by 2020.
Hitachi plans to expand its offshore wind market share
by adding a 5MW production line for offshore wind turbine components.
Hitachi will build a new HTW5.
0-126 production line at its existing production facility in Ibaraki Prefecture, eastern Japan, which is scheduled to be completed
in March 2016.
Hitachi HTW5MW-126 offshore wind turbine production line
Hitachi installed its 5MW offshore wind turbine at a coastal wind
farm in Ibaraki Prefecture, Kashima City, in March this year.
The model is downwind structure, using permanent magnet semi-direct drive technology route, the diameter of the wind wheel is 126 meters, the design grade is typhoon-resistant IECS, and the design annual average wind speed is 10m/s
.
In February this year, the developer of a 220MW offshore wind project listed in Niigata Province Village selected Hitachi to supply 5MW of offshore wind turbines
.
At present, the Japanese government has identified four other regions with a total development capacity of 1.
45GW.
