Recently, officials from Net Power, Inc.
, based in Texas, announced that the first successful ignition of the combustion chamber of a new natural gas-fired power plant will test a new power generation technology that has no carbon dioxide emissions and, therefore, no need for carbon capture technology
.
It is reported that the new power plant, located in Laporte, Texas, is designed to verify and test
a new power generation technology - the "Alam cycle".
According to company executives, the Aram cycle power generation technology consists of seven steps, resulting in products including electricity and liquid water, in addition to small amounts of carbon dioxide that can be collected for use in other processes
such as natural gas extraction.
Company executives also said that new power plants based on this technology are no more expensive to build or operate than ordinary natural gas-fired power plants
.
Next, the company will conduct more extensive testing
.
Once the test is complete, they will combine the combustion chamber and turbine to start generating electricity
