The first low-carbon group standard in the field of sewage treatment in China was released

It is reported that the first low-carbon group standard in the field of sewage treatment in China, the Technical Specification for the Evaluation of Low-carbon Operation of Sewage Treatment Plants (T/CAEPI49-2022), was organized and formulated by the Urban Sewage Treatment Branch of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, released on June 6 this year, and will be officially implemented
on July 1 this year.

Why this standard? According to the relevant person in charge of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, it is estimated that the carbon emissions of the sewage treatment industry account for about 1% of the total emissions of the whole society, mainly from the operation of energy-consuming equipment and the large use
of pharmaceuticals.
Guiding sewage treatment plants to adopt scientific and efficient carbon emission reduction technologies and methods is of great guiding significance
for achieving synergies in pollution reduction and carbon reduction and promoting the green and low-carbon development of the ecological and environmental protection industry.

The relevant person in charge of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association said: "This standard optimizes the accounting method of carbon emissions in the production process of sewage treatment plants through the research and analysis of the operation data of 246 sewage treatment plants in China in the past 4 years, and establishes an index system and evaluation method
for low-carbon behavior evaluation of sewage treatment plants under different conditions of inlet water quality, treatment scale, process, discharge standards, etc.
" ”

This standard can guide sewage treatment plants to carry out carbon emission reduction accounting, process optimization and technological transformation, and also provide an important methodological basis
for management to evaluate the low-carbon behavior of sewage treatment plants.

After the standard is released, it is important
to land.
It is reported that in the next step, the Central Environmental Association (Beijing) Certification Center will carry out the certification of
low-carbon sewage treatment plants based on the evaluation methods proposed by this standard.
