On November 13, local time in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, the first batch of Koror floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects developed by the Mozambique District 4 project participated by PetroChina achieved the first LNG shipment, marking the realization of the whole industrial chain operation of this world-class ultra-deep-sea floating LNG project
.
This is the first LNG export from East Africa, and Mozambique has officially entered the ranks of
LNG exporters.
The person in charge of CNPC said that as the largest overseas monomer investment project of PetroChina, the Zone 4 project is another successful practice
of PetroChina to promote green and low-carbon transformation and help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
The Kolor floating LNG project in Mozambique District 4 is the world's first ultra-deepwater floating LNG project, the largest in Africa and the second largest floating LNG project in the world, with a water depth of more than 2,000 meters, integrating the world's most cutting-edge deep-sea LNG technology, and developing
in the mode of "underwater production system + floating LNG ship".
The Zone 4 project in Mozambique is jointly built and operated
by Eni of Italy, PetroChina, ExxonMobil of the United States, Petroleos de Mozambican, Goppu Energy of Portugal and Korea Natural Gas.
Among them, PetroChina holds a 20% interest
.
The eastern offshore region of Mozambique is an emerging hotspot for global natural gas exploration and development
.
As an important achievement of China-Mozambique energy cooperation, the successful commissioning of the Kolore floating LNG project will effectively drive the local economic and social development of Mozambique and is of great significance
to promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road" and China-Africa energy pragmatic cooperation.
According to the person in charge of CNPC International, the Kolor floating LNG project has the characteristics of
large scale, large investment, high difficulty, high risk, long business chain and long construction period.
In the operation of the project, the Chinese team has always adhered to the concept of win-win cooperation, established an effective communication and coordination mechanism and technical exchange mechanism, and actively participated in project management decision-making
.
For the first time, a technical support team of China's deep-sea LNG was established, which cultivated a professional team for the development of PetroChina's deep-sea LNG business, and accumulated management and operation experience
for PetroChina to achieve "simultaneous progress by sea and land".
At present, PetroChina Mozambique is actively working with partners to promote the next development and construction of the Zone 4 project, and strive to convert reserves into LNG products as soon as possible, making positive contributions
to low-carbon and green development.
