The Basic Science Center is the most funded project so far that was piloted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2016.

The basic science center project of the "Climate System Prediction Research Center" of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is led by Academician Wang Huijun, and jointly undertaken by Sun Yat-sen University and other units, with a direct funding of 60 million yuan.
