The European Commission has approved private equity firm Advent to acquire GE's distributed generation business
for $3.
25 billion.
The European Union approves Advent's acquisition of GE's distributed generation business
The acquisition is a business unit of General Electric Electric that manufactures and sells gas engines and provides after-sales services related to these engines, including spare parts supply
.
Advent is one of the world's largest and most experienced private equity investors, with more than 100 successful investments in industrial, energy and business services
.
It is understood that the industrial gas engine business of the divestment includes the Jenbacher and Waukesha brands and production bases
in Austria, Canada and the United States.
The three sites have delivered more than 48,000 Jenbacher and Waukesha reciprocating gas engines
to customers worldwide.
The European Commission said the deal would not raise any competition issues
because the two companies' activities did not overlap in the EEA.
