The European Commission has reportedly approved three different subsidy schemes
for wind and solar power in Denmark in the second half of this year and in 2019.
The EU executive approved
the proposals in accordance with the group's state aid provisions.
The plans include a multi-technology tender program for onshore and offshore wind turbines and solar installations, which are expected to select €112 million projects
through two tenders in 2018 and 2019.
Another program supports onshore wind for testing and demonstration projects outside the two national large-scale turbine test centres, with an estimated budget of €27 million, and a transitional assistance program for onshore wind with a budget of €5 million
.
The plan aims to help Denmark achieve a 50% share of renewable energy in its energy mix by 2030 and make the country independent of fossil fuels
by 2050.
After installation and connection to the grid, assistance for these three programs will be awarded for 20 years
.
The Renewable Support Program is financed
from the state budget.
Denmark's three plans will encourage the development of renewable energy technologies
in line with EU state aid rules, the commission said in a statement.
The EU executive also said the measures would help Denmark increase renewable energy generation, in line with the EU's environmental goals, while minimizing any competitive distortions
caused by state support.
Back in June, the Danish parliament approved plans for the Clean Energy Plan 2030, which aims to boost wind and solar power to help decarbonize
the country's power generation.
The plan also envisages Denmark phasing out its coal-fired power stations
by 2030.
Taxes on power utilities have been cut under a compromise deal that will help shape Denmark's 2030 energy plan, a move the government says will eliminate investment
in green energy.
Denmark's finance minister said the ambitious plan will ensure the pace and ambition of the country to achieve a green transition
