Recently, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is lending 31 million euros (about $35.
2 million) to a 30 MW solar project in the Kyzylorda region of southern Kazakhstan, sponsored by Total EREN and Access Infra Central Asia
    .

It is understood that the project will help reduce the dependence of the southern region on electricity imports from other regions, especially the northern coal-fired power plants, and reduce the associated transmission losses
    .

The plant will have 120,862 Canadian solar polycrystalline modules and dual-axis trackers
    .
They will be connected to 12 Sungrow SG2500 HV-MV (1.
5kV) inverters, and the main high-voltage substation with 220/34.
5kV transformer will be connected to a 220kV national grid power line with a line length of 500 meters
    .
About 150-200 workers will carry out the factory construction
    on site.

Nomad Solar LLP is a special purpose entity established locally by Total EREN and Access Power to implement the project
    .

The project will be part of Kazakhstan's renewable energy framework, with grants of up to US$110 million
approved by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in October 2017.

Back in May, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed a mandate with Chinese PV panel maker Risen Energy to finance
a 63MW PV project in Kazakhstan.
