International submarine cable operator EllaLink recently announced that it has successfully completed the offshore installation
of EllaLink, a transatlantic cable system between Europe and Latin America.
For the next phase of the project, EllaLink chose Infinera and its ICE6 technology for deployment, providing a direct single-hop transmission path
between data centers on each continent.
Infinera's ICE6 800G coherent technology will enable EllaLink to offer advanced customer products and services that support more than 100Tbps transmission services
between Portugal and Brazil.
In addition, the network will support 30Tbps connection paths from Portugal to Madeira, with the addition of 40Tbps paths
between Portugal and Morocco in the future.
Future network expansion will allow EllaLink's submarine network to expand to French Guiana, Mauritania, the Canary Islands and Morocco
.
EllaLink also plans to use ICE6 to enhance the terrestrial network capacity
between the Port of Sines, Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid (Spain) and Marseille (France).
Diego Matas, Chief Operating Officer of EllaLink, said: "We have successfully completed the installation of 6,000 km of submarine cables, providing EllaLink with the robust systems it needs to support the network throughout its lifecycle.
