"The European Commission has approved the synchronization of the Ukrainian grid with the European grid," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told
a news conference in Brussels on Wednesday evening.
"I would like to thank the Council of Europe for adopting Opinion 27 of the Ukraine-EU Association, which allows energy markets to synchronize .
.
.
This is the beginning of Ukraine's integration into the EU energy sector," Poroshenko said
.
The Ukrainian cabinet reportedly approved an action plan at the end of 2018 to synchronize
Ukraine's United Energy System with the European Transmission System Electricity Operator Network (ENTSO-E).
The action plan provides for the creation of a joint regulatory module of the joint power system of Ukraine and the electricity system of Moldova, efforts to ensure the work of thermal power plants within the ENTSO-E system, provision of channels for the technical management of the joint power system of Ukraine, construction of overhead lines and substations, certification of transmission system operators (Ukrenergo), work on the transition to the energy system of countries other than ENTSO-E (Russia, Belarus), and participation in international technical assistance
。
The European Union of Transmission Operators, composed of 41 transmission operators (TSOs) in 34 European countries, is responsible for formulating and publishing pan-European grid development plans, as well as developing rules for the operation of the European unified electricity market and promoting cooperation between transmission operators
