The European Commission announced on Wednesday that it has adopted a new long-term strategy aimed at achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions
by 2050 by investing in "realistic" technological solutions and taking action in key areas such as industrial policy, finance and research and development.
Announced just days before the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the European Commission announced a new long-term strategy to achieve a "clean planet for all"
by 2050.
According to the document published by the commission, the aim of the long-term strategy is to "confirm Europe's commitment to leading global climate action and to set out a vision for a fair and cost-effective transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050
