The ESG work of China's petrochemical industry has been fully launched

On November 1, the kick-off meeting of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation to "promote environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) in the petroleum and chemical industry" was held in Beijing, marking the full launch
of ESG work in China's petrochemical industry.

Peng Huagang, Secretary-General of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, said at the kick-off meeting that the petrochemical industry has distinct environmental responsibility and social responsibility attributes, and it should play a pioneer and exemplary role
in ESG fulfillment.
We should give full play to the guiding role of industry associations and the main role of petrochemical enterprises, strengthen the research and formulation of industry ESG policies, standards and evaluation systems, create an industry ESG development ecology, and accelerate the construction of
China's ESG system.

Regarding how to build an ESG work system with the characteristics of China's petrochemical industry, Li Yunpeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, emphasized that first of all, it is necessary to coordinate the relationship between development and safety, effectively prevent and resolve various risks and challenges, and achieve coordinated development of corporate interests and social interests; Secondly, it is necessary to handle the relationship between ESG internationalization and Chinese, and build ESG information disclosure rules and performance evaluation systems with industry characteristics and in line with the actual situation of enterprises; Third, it is necessary to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation on ESG work, continuously enhance the competitiveness, innovation and influence of Chinese-based ESG, and help and support China's petrochemical enterprises to accelerate their progress
towards the world-class level.

"Promoting the legal disclosure of ESG and environmental information is a systematic work that requires the participation of governments, industries and enterprises, of which petrochemical enterprises are the main force

" Zhang Huaping, deputy director of the comprehensive department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will continue to improve the environmental information disclosure system
through four measures together with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and the China Securities Regulatory Commission.
First, deepen system construction and improve the policy system; The second is to strengthen departmental collaboration and deepen application consensus; The third is to introduce third-party institutions to stimulate policy vitality; The fourth is to coordinate and promote environmental information disclosure and environmental protection credit evaluation

These four measures will provide support for the follow-up application of environmental information, so that central enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, and small and micro enterprises can find development opportunities and obtain information dividends in environmental information disclosure, thereby promoting the development of ESG norms and providing support
