Carbonyl sulfur is widely used in natural gas, oil and coal production processes, and due to the high carbonyl sulfur content in high-sulfur gas fields, it is an important factor
affecting the surface process route of gas reservoirs.
Gas-solid catalytic hydrolysis technology is a more economical way
to achieve the standard production of high carbonyl sulfur natural gas.
Due to the technical vacancy of core catalysts and supporting process packages, China has long relied on imports in this technology field, and its localization is the key to
opening up the "blocking point" of China's natural gas quality standards.
In order to break the foreign technology monopoly and prevent technical risks, Southwest Oil & Gas Field Company started the research and development of carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology in natural gas in 2013, and developed a complete set of fixed-bed carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology through basic research, process and catalyst research and development, pilot scale-up and other stages, and independently developed and formed a carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology package
with independent intellectual property rights.
In May 2020, Southwest Oil & Gas Field Company, together with production, design institutes and other forces, built the first domestic field test device for carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology and operated stably for more than 8,000 hours, laying the foundation for
the industrial application of a full set of domestic carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology 。 In November 2022, the complete set of carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis technology of million standard cubic meter natural gas fixed bed was successfully put into operation at the Wanzhou branch of the natural gas purification plant, the carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis rate was greater than 99%, the hydrolysis reaction temperature was 40 °C lower than that of similar foreign products, saving fuel gas by 1.
6 million cubic meters per year, and the on-site application effect was better than similar foreign technologies and reached the international advanced level
.
Experts said that the first application of this complete set of technology not only broke the monopoly of foreign technology, achieved a breakthrough in domestic carbonyl sulfur hydrolysis process, but also made up for the technical shortcomings of gas-solid catalytic hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfur in the natural gas field, enhanced China's international competitiveness in the field of efficient organic sulfur removal technology from natural gas, and laid a solid foundation
for the economic and efficient development of medium and high sulfur gas fields and ensuring national energy security.
