A few days ago, the first batch of 4 gates produced by China arrived at the Reventazon Hydropower Station in Costa Rica, a total of 16 gates, 2 more gates are on the way to Colombia, and the remaining 10 gates are being sent to Shanghai Port
.
After an international public bidding, China Sumec won the bid and was responsible for the supply and installation
of the gate.
Before the arrival of the gate, the project staff of the Reventason Hydropower Station went to China to conduct on-site monitoring of the gate production for six months to ensure the quality and delivery progress
of the gate.
Project manager Luis Robert Rodriguez said the smooth delivery of the gates allowed the project of great importance to Colombia to proceed
as scheduled, as required by ICE.
The Reventazon hydroelectric power plant is the largest engineering project in Costa Rica and one of the largest in Central America after the Panama Canal, and its design and construction were carried out
by ICE himself.
The total investment in the project is US$1.
4 billion, which comes from ICE's own funds, loans and trusts
.
With a concrete embankment of 130 meters and a total water storage capacity of 7.
8 million cubic meters, the power station will be the largest hydropower station
in Central America.
The first unit of the Reventason hydropower project, which will be operational in March 2016 and is expected to power 2 million people, is 86%
complete.
Colombian President Solis visited the project site in October last year
