The China Green Building Council (GBC) is working with the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) to adopt green buildings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
.
The China Green Building Council has reached a cooperation with the World Green Building Council
As China is the world's largest building and construction market, WorldGBC takes this partnership
very seriously.
In the next 10 years, China's annual construction area will reach 2 billion square meters, accounting for nearly half
of the world's new construction area.
To date, about 523 million square meters of buildings have been certified
green under GBC's Samsung Green Building Rating System.
Under the partnership, GBC has committed to introducing near-net zero criteria
to the rating system this year.
Terri Wills, CEO of WorldGBC, said: "The importance of bringing China into the global green building movement cannot be underestimated
.
Just as China has sought to commit to tackling climate change on the global stage, this partnership marks a new era
of cooperation between the world's largest green building market and the World Green Building Council, which covers more than 70 countries.
