Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy announced the postponement of tenders for energy and transmission projects, which were originally planned for
the coming months.
According to local media reports, the tender for energy and transmission projects was in response
to an "international public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"
Specifically, the government has postponed six tender activities: new energy tenders known as A-4 and A-6 and tenders for existing energy, as well as tenders
for transmission lines and those designed to supply off-grid systems.
The new A-4 energy tender, originally planned for May 28, is the only renewable
energy-related tender.
This includes 51,438 MW of hydropower, wind, solar and biomass projects
.
The government stressed that it will not cancel the 2020 tender, but only postpone it until the public health situation returns to normal
